Dear Reader, On Friday, opposing parties are due to file their brief in opposition to our challenge to Prop 8 before the California Supreme Court. Their brief will argue that Prop 8 should be upheld and that the California Constitution should embrace discrimination. How will you respond? Will you become a Voice for Equality? Lambda Legal is launching our Voices for Equality initiative. Prop 8 has served as a rallying point for those who believe in full equality - we understand that this moment is not simply about marriage in one state; it's about the discrimination, second-class status and harassment LGBT people face all over America. Join Lambda Legal and add your name to the Voices for Equality. From schools to our own homes, LGBT people face discrimination when we speak out, when we work for change, and when we choose the people we love. We will not accept this. We put our faith in the constitution and fight for the core principle in our democracy that the majority cannot take away the fundamental rights of a minority. Lambda Legal is making the case for equality all across the country. Less than a week ago, our attorneys made historic oral arguments for marriage equality before the Iowa Supreme Court. Stay informed, raise your voice and find out what Lambda Legal is doing in your state. This is a unique time. When you make your year-end gift to Lambda Legal today, you are doing more than writing a check, you're taking direct action against those who would deny equality for all people in America. I believe... We are Voices for Equality. When Lambda Legal makes the case for equality in the courts, they speak for me and the many others who believe in fairness. We are LGBT people, people with HIV, families, friends and allies. We are proud to be strong Voices for Equality. Join the Voices for Equality initiative and help us argue for equality in the courts and in the court of public opinion. Let's raise our voices together. Together we can overcome those who would try to silence us and deny equality. Today our Voices for Equality initiative begins... With appreciation, Kevin Cathcart |
